What is
Frenectomy
A frenectomy is a simple surgery that is used to remove excess tissue that connects your tongue to the bottom of your mouth. When this extra tissue is present, it’s often referred to as being “tongue tied.”
Being tongue tied can make what should be simple tasks, such as speaking, eating, and swallowing more difficult because the tongue is restricted in its movements.
There can also be excess tissue that connects your upper lip to your gums, causing similar struggles.
This is a very common issue, and we have just the fix.
Safer and more efficient than ever
With the use of a dental laser, getting a frenectomy done is safer, cleaner, and more efficient than in the past when metal tools would have been used. The rick of infection is significantly decreased as is the recovery period. If you think a frenectomy might be right for you or your child give us a call.
Recovery tips after a
Frenectomy
- A no chew diet is recommended the day of surgery
- Avoid crunchy, spicy, and acidic foods which can irritate the surgical site
- Use an ice pack and approved medication to reduce soreness
- Following this, you may eat and drink normally as feels comfortable to you
